Accoutrements, Naval, Pattern 1901 -

Notes on Canadian Production and Use

r&mProduction of the Accoutrements, naval, pattern 1901 was undertaken, in Canada, at least during 1915 / 16 and possibly over a wider period. The sole manufacturer noted to date is Riley & McCormick of Calgary. It is assumed that contract was for supply to the Canadian Naval Service as most items sighted are marked N[broad arrow]S over C (Naval Service, Canada?). Little more is currently known by the KWRT.

Perhaps some of our Canadian colleagues could pick up the torch and run with it. Riley & McCormick are still in existence and may have a company archive. There are, no doubt, other archival sources familiar to Canadian researchers that may also yield information. The challenge is there!
